I was enjoying my morning serving of People.com and read a great article that I would like to share with you about Beverly Hills’ newest housewife, Denise Richards.
People.com spoke with the actress about her seven year old daughter, Eloise. “I’m most proud of raising my kids, especially in a time that is very different from how I was raised,” explained the former fling of Bon Jovi‘s Richie Sambora. “It’s extremely hard to keep children grounded. This is not an easy time to grow up.” Girl, I feel you. I’m only a dog mom, but the struggle is real.
In case you forgot the backstory: Denise has two kids (Sam and Lola) with ex-husband, Charlie Sheen. Yes, the guy from Two And A Half Men. Denise adopted Eloise as a single woman, so her journey was quite unique. If you would like to read an article from People Magazine’s archive about Denise’s process when transitioning Eloise into an already established family, click here.
Denise noticed Eloise wasn’t performing typically for babies. The adopted mom learned little Eloise has a chromosomal disorder that she told People Magazine, “has caused a lot of developmental delays for her. She wasn’t able to sit up on her own for a very long time, and she didn’t start walking until she was 2, and that was with physical therapy,” explained the loving mother to People.
“Every child is different. You take care of your children no matter what is going on with them. I don’t know if [Eloise] is ever going to talk like a typical child, but as a parent, you want what’s best for your children, and you just do it,” Denise told People Magazine.
I don’t have kids, but I DO have several friends, family members, collagues, etc. that have children with special needs. Plus, I used to work in education, so I have seen the daily struggles. More importantly; however, I witnessed how much time, love, and attention families give their children-no matter what their needs like Denise Richards has- and it makes me so happy.
