Southern Charm New Orleans Recap: Booze and Boos

Season 1 - Episode 5

May 14, 2018 11:53am

I’m the daughter of a former police officer, and in my younger years was afforded the opportunity to hear incredible stories. Of all the stories I was told, my favorite is still his ghost story. Basically, he responded to a call (placed from a house with a haunted reputation) where a man woke up to another man standing at the foot of his bed, staring at him. There was no forced entry, it wasn’t a dream, and no one else had access to the house. That’s the story in a nutshell and while it sounds short, the mini, super-condensed version is 147% more interesting than the ghost excursion that the cast of Southern Charm: New Orleans went on.

Here’s what went down this week.

Prior to the haunted getaway, Tamica Lee joined her cousin Jared on a road trip to New Roads where they participated in a crawfish boil and celebrated Jared’s coming out,  Reagan Charleston and her sister Reagan’s apartment in the French Quarter, and Jon Moody takes a jog with his uncomplicated-friend/model-from-the-party and invites her to the haunted get-together. Then, Jeff Charleston sees a therapist and screams, while Reagan gets a reading from the priestess Catherina and pretty much nothing comes out of that. So their marriage is headed in the right direction, according to Hollywood standards.

Anyway, they all drunkenly meet up so the party bus can take them to the Myrtle’s Plantation. On the way, their party bus blows a tire. Is it a sign like Justin Reese thinks it is? No, it’s bad infrastructure. Another bus picks them up and they continue on, eventually making it to Myrtle’s Plantation and having their rooms assigned to them.

Reagan is my type of girl – she’s not down with creepy dolls because let’s just all be honest: they come to life and kill people. Reagan and Jeff are getting ready for dinner when something happens; something we can’t see because this isn’t Ghost Adventures and they only show it on repeat once. Justin is more scared of having his picture taken and a ghost attaching itself to him. #same

Following the ghost encounter we can’t see, everyone reconvenes on the outdoor patio for dinner – except for Justin. He’s having chest pains and spends the majority of the night curled up in the fetal position on his bed. While he’s trying not to die on camera, the gang eats and listens to Miss Eby’s (mansion tour guide) stories on the hotel. They’re pretty scary, but not as scary as Tamica’s reaction to Jon Moody announcing he’s working with Tamica’s arch nemesis Gian on an upcoming show – even though I think she already got mad about them working together a few episodes ago.

Tamica’s anger is eventually subsided by the fact that the band let her wear once of those clothing washboard things (I’m from a border town and that’s the technical name) and let her sing. Kelsey (Justin’s girlfriend) eventually arrives and they all dance, drink, sing and have a grand ole time – the exact opposite of staying at a haunted mansion.

Soooo, what do you think will happen at the Myrtle’s Plantation? Will they encounter real ghosts? WILL SOMETHING FO THE LOVE OF GOD HAPPEN? Comment below!
