RHOP Recap: Ex's and Oh No's
Season 3 Episode 11

Last night’s episode of RHOP got messy. It started with a few crumbs on the floor and ended with an entire cake thrown on the ground (sorry Siggy Flicker).
Ray and Karen Huger go out for date night, and I can’t help but notice the irony of the setting. They’re at a pretty fancy restaurant for a couple going through tax issues. Karen discusses working for her charity and cries over the death of her mother from Alzheimer’s. For the first time in a very long time, my heart goes out to her.
Meanwhile, Gizelle Bryant and Ashley Darby shop for a gift for Robyn Dixon for her event. They talk about Karen’s flip-flopping over whose event she will attend as well as Gizelle’s breakup with Sherman. I understand that Gizelle doesn’t want to play the victim, but it’s hard to feel bad for her when she seems so okay with their split.
Speaking of Sherman, we’re introduced to his ex-wife, Kyndall, in this episode. She meets with Monique Samuels and discusses the “park after dark” incident. Apparently, Kyndall and Gizelle were some type of friends at some point. Kyndall is upset that Gizelle didn’t tell her she was dating Sherman.
Later, Ashley, Candiace Dillard, and Gizelle show up at Robyn’s event to help her. Robyn feels betrayed that Charisse Jackson Jordan picked Monique’s event over hers. The amazing Bravo editors broadcast the events side by side to give us a look into both events. Over at Monique’s event, Charisse is mad that Monique is friends with her friends. Um, I’m sorry, but I didn’t think I was watching Real Middleschoolers of Immaturity here.
Monique and Robyn aren’t the only ladies with charity events this episode. Karen invites the women to her event to help find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. She asks guests to write donation checks to her personal hair company, Icon Hair Collection (which, by the way, boasts a completely empty website…). Talk about a tax write off. Karen claims it’s none of their business what company they make the checks payable to, but Monique says what everyone is thinking: it’s their money, so of course it’s their business!
Robyn is stepping up her own money game since she’s flipping houses now. She explores a house with her “real estate career mentor.” A career mentor? What exactly is that; do you apply for the position? How do I get a career mentor? Is this a Seinfeld episode or HGTV? They list all the renovation costs on the screen, and I had to check the channel to make sure I didn’t actually switch to Love It or List It.
While Robyn tours the old home, Candiace tours a new wedding venue. With all the different budgets coming up on the screen, I had terrifying flashbacks to faking my parent’s signature on failed math tests. I don’t know how this girl thinks she can afford this elaborate wedding, but I can’t wait to see it.
Monique and Chris get their nails done, and Monique declares her newest project. She is starting another mommy advice column, because that’s exactly what the world has been missing (*prolonged eye roll*). For a man getting his nails done, Chris sounds a bit too much like a sexist, macho dude asserting his dominance. He wants his wife to be at home catering to him and their kids instead of working constantly.
Ashley and Michael discuss the topic of kids once again, and he backtracks on what he previously said about warming up to the idea. He pulls the classic mother comparison and claims that Ashley will parent just like her mother did. If I were Ashley, I would be P**SED. I’d have to resit the urge to slap that Australian accent right out of him.
Ashley is also a bit upset with Karen. Along with many of the other ladies, Ashley thinks Karen is just straight up messy for inviting Sherman’s ex-wife and Gizelle to her charity event. Gizelle and Robyn are clearly mad at Karen, and plan to confront her when they arrive at the event.“This is not an ambush, this is a message,” they claim. Who do they think they are, Cardi B? It sounds a lot like “It’s not a threat, it’s a warning…”
Robyn and Gizelle are also annoyed about the whole checks situation. Robyn wants to know that her donation isn’t going towards Karen’s plastic surgery. That’s not a very empowering thing to say about a female friend, Robyn…
Gizelle and Robyn finally arrive to the charity event after the other women. The episode ends on a cliffhanger as Gizelle approaches Sherman’s ex.
How do you think Gizelle will react to meeting her ex’s ex? Give us your thoughts below!
